The basic infrastructure requirements are 3: we need a virtualization platform, a DNS Server and a DHCP Server.
The virtualization platform will be responsible for hosting the UDS servers, the virtual desktops and the RDS application servers. It is imperative to have a user name and password of the manager of the virtualization platform with administrator permissions.
Currently, UDS Enterprise supports Citrix XenServer, Microsoft Hyper-V, Nutanix Acropolis, OpenNebula, OpenStack, RHEV KVM, oVirt KVM and VMware vSphere. All these platforms can be enabled to run simultaneously and can be centrally managed form the UDS Enterprise administration dashboard.
The DNS Server is necessary for both the proper running of the virtual platform as well as for the UDS virtual platform environment to be deployed.
The DHCP Server is needed to assign IP addresses to the virtual desktop groups created by UDS Enterprise.
As for the network requirements, we need to have at least 3 IP addresses available, for UDS Server, UDS Tunneler and UDS Database. If we’re going to setup UDS Enterprise Free Edition or Evaluation Edition, we only need 2 IP addresses, since these versions include an internal database.
Finally, we need a network mask, the IP address of the DNS server, the Gateway IP address, the Domain name if there is one and the IP address of the virtualization platform manager**.
Once we make sure that all these components are available, we will have everything necessary to proceed with the installation of UDS Enterprise.
