New edition of the Free Software University Competition

by | Jan 15, 2019

The Free Software University Competition (CUSL) challenges students to develop a free software or hardware project or technical documentation about an existing free project. The objective of the contest is promoting the creation and contributing to the consolidation of the Free Software Community in the University.

The call for proposals phase will remain open until February 15, 2019 and may be applied by university, high school, middle and high school students, and third cycle or master’s degree students enrolled for the current academic year 2018/2019. It’s not necessary to have previous knowledge in the development of free software, students are invited to learn as they advance with the development of their idea.

Throughout the course, the contestants must report the progress of the project on a blog and must host the source code in a repository such as GitHub, GitLab or LaunchPad. From the organization they encourage participants to create software accessible to everybody, including any age group or group with some type of disability.

The XIII edition of this contest is organized by the University of Seville (SOLFA), University of Córdoba (Free Software Classroom), University of La Laguna (OSL), University of Zaragoza (OSLUZ) and the University of Huelva. These university centers encourage other universities and institutions linked to the Free Software world to be part of the community of this contest.
