Fedora 33 Beta available for testing

The Fedora Project announced the availability of Fedora 33 Beta, the latest release of this version before the stable one, which is expected to be launched at the end of October.

Among the new features of Fedora 33 Beta, in the official announcement the use of BTRFS as the default filesystem is highlighted. This change introduces user-friendly features such as transparent compression and “copy-on-write”. At the moment, only basic features are incorporated, but little by little more advantages of this system will be added.

Microsoft has confirmed that Edge will be available for Linux next October. Almost a year has passed since they announced that their Chromium-based web browser would be compatible with this operating system. Now, they just revealed that the first Linux preview for Edge will be available next month and will be downloadable from Microsoft Edge Insiders or from the native Linux package manager.

Finland open sources the code of its app to track Covid-19

As we mentioned in our blog, the code of the Spanish application to track Covid-19 positive contacts in RADAR COVID was released last week.

Its Finnish counterpart became Open Source a few weeks earlier, at the end of August. This app for tracking and monitoring Covid-19 cases is called Koronavilkku and has been published under the European Union Public Licence (EUPL-1.2), which allows its reuse.
