Google has announced the names of the Open Source organizations and projects that will put their knowledge and experience at the service of the participants of their program Google Summer of Code (GSoC).
The Government of Poland is increasing the adoption of Linux. The Social Insurance Institution of this country (ZUS for its acronym in Polish) has implemented an integrated virtualization solution for Linux servers. The installation and maintenance of this infrastructure is carried out by the Polish company Linux Polska. Over the next three years, they will provide 24×7 support to this institution.
The Open Source community in Africa organizes this week the I Open Source Festival in this continent. This event will bring together more than 800 people in Lagos (Nigeria), including developers, designers, students and staff from different organizations. They all have a common interest: support for the open source and free software movement in Africa.

The KDE team has announced the availability of a new version of the popular desktop Plasma, which comes with the last name LTS, which means that it has extended support. That is, Plasma 5.18 will be the stable version for the next two years. Of course, it will receive periodic updates to polish and improve its functionalities.
