RHEL 7.3 improves performance and security

Red Hat has recently announced the general availability of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7.3, including new features that improve performance, security, and reliability.

As to performance, RHEL 7.3 adds lightweight tunnels, enabling guest instances of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.3 to be more secure, efficient, scalable and flexible. Additionally, enhancements to the bulk packet memory allocator improve performance for both 40 and 100 Gb networking interfaces. Among other things, high-transaction applications have now lower and RHEL now supports the Block SCSI layout format and the Flex Files layout format to manage more easily Parallel NFS (pNFS) clusters.

At security level, SELinux has been updated for faster policy creation and improved overall ease of use. This new release includes a consistent compliance checking mechanism across containerized and traditional non-container workloads for better overall operations efficiency. Red Hat’s Identity Management solution has also been improved, providing better performance for large installations, support for smart card authentication with Active Directory, and support for configurable authentication strength across individual hosts and services.

Among other improvements, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.3 adds new features for disaster recovery, Linux containers and Internet of Things. For further information, read the official press release
