The new version of UDS Enterprise adds full support for XenServer, so it will be possible to deploy a VDI platform with UDS Enterprise and Citrix’s Open Source hypervisor.
In this way, the number of hypervisors supported by UDS Enterprise is enlarged; and XenServer joins the list along with vSphere, Hyper-V, KVM (oVirt/RHEV).
This new feature is incorporated in the 1.7 version of the multiplatform connection broker for Windows and Linux, that will be available during this Q1 of 2015.
UDS Enterprise was one of the solutions selected by CRUE-TIC and RedIRIS to take part in the Desktop Virtualization Conference that was held yesterday at the Universidad Autónoma in Madrid.
Our VDI connection broker was chosen due to the experience in Education of our development team and to its competitive advantages in functionality, flexibility and costs. Thus, our software was presented along with others developed by multinational companies such as Red Hat, VMware, Microsoft or Citrix.
This new actor is based on a common framework for all supported platforms (Windows & Linux virtual machines and physical machines). It consists of two components, one in service and another in user space, which makes possible to interact with the user. It supports the following operating systems: Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 2008, Windows 2012, Ubuntu 12, 13 and 14; Fedora (from core up to 20), OpenSuse 13.1 and Centos 7.
Thanks to its flexibility and openness, UDS Enterprise has multiple applications, from VDI platforms deployment, right up until disaster recovery strategies, throughout desktop management and security improvements. But not only that. This multiplatform connection broker for Windows and Linux can be also used to unify any IP service registered in the system.
In this way, this software allows to configure, administer and manage nearly any IP service deployed in your network or Data Center. It provides access to virtual desktops, FTP servers, shared resources, VoIP and IP cameras through specific management models as a service. Thus, UDS Enterprise allows different IP services to interact among each other, offering a complete solution management and administration for any IT platform in a simple, robust and scalable way.
A few days ago we talked about the Remote PCs project developed by UDS Enterprise together with the University of Seville and the University of Malaga in order to access the computers in the ICT classroom during non-school hours.
Today we are going to deal with the new functionalities that will have UDS Enterprise working together with the Open Source management application of ICT classrooms OpenGnsys.
