All versions of Zorin OS are available to download for free, although if you want to contribute to the development you can opt for the “Ultimate” version, which is around € 50. Since its launch in June last year, this distro has already been downloaded more than 1.7 million times.
The developers say that “More than 65% of these downloads come from proprietary platforms such as Windows and macOS, reflecting our mission to bring the power of Linux to new people and grow the community for the benefit of all. We have been working ever since to make Zorin OS 15 even more powerful, accessible and easy to use with updates and punctual releases.”
Just a few days ago they launched a new version and many of the applications have also been updated, such as LibreOffice. Zorin OS 15.3 is based on version 5.4 of the Linux kernel and offers performance and stability improvements. Additionally, support has been added for the new Intel “Tiger Lake” processors, the new AMD APUs and other peripherals.
There are different versions of this distro so that each user can choose the one that best suits their needs:
• Zorin OS 15.3 Core: the standard version.
• Zorin OS 15.3 Lite: for computers with low hardware resources. Its desktop environment is Xfce.
• Zorin OS 15.3 Education: designed for academic use, includes dedicated vApp and tools designed for learning.
• Zorin OS 15.3 Ultimate: the most complete and paid version, to support the development of the project.
