UDS Enterprise doesn’t need Java installed

The UDS Enterprise development team is working to eliminate the need to have Java installed for certain types of connections to access from any web browser to virtual desktops deployed with our VDI connection broker for Windows and Linux.

Until now, it was necessary to have Java installed for certain types of connection when accessing virtual desktops from any browser. In addition, system administrators had to make sure that all the browsers of the computers they manage had the required version of Java installed in order to take maximum advantage of the platform for remote desktops.

UDS Enterprise 1.7 incorporates an on-screen keyboard when accessing to our virtual desktop using any mobile OS, thanks to the incorporation of Guacamole’s latest enhancements.

This new feature allows you to enable a virtual keyboard using a simple gesture on mobile devices, which will facilitate to a great extent the management of virtual desktops from this type of devices.

The incorporation of this keyboard joins the list of new features included in the next version of UDS Enterprise, which will be released at the end of Q1 of this year 2015.

UDS Enterprise 1.7 fully supports XenServer

The new version of UDS Enterprise adds full support for XenServer, so it will be possible to deploy a VDI platform with UDS Enterprise and Citrix’s Open Source hypervisor.

In this way, the number of hypervisors supported by UDS Enterprise is enlarged; and XenServer joins the list along with vSphere, Hyper-V, KVM (oVirt/RHEV).

This new feature is incorporated in the 1.7 version of the multiplatform connection broker for Windows and Linux, that will be available during this Q1 of 2015.

UDS Enterprise was one of the solutions selected by CRUE-TIC and RedIRIS to take part in the Desktop Virtualization Conference that was held yesterday at the Universidad Autónoma in Madrid.

Our VDI connection broker was chosen due to the experience in Education of our development team and to its competitive advantages in functionality, flexibility and costs. Thus, our software was presented along with others developed by multinational companies such as Red Hat, VMware, Microsoft or Citrix.

New UDS Enterprise Actor

New UDS Enterprise Actor

The improvements of the new version of UDS Enterprise, which will be available during this Q1 of 2015, include the addition of a new actor developed by our programmers.

This new actor is based on a common framework for all supported platforms (Windows & Linux virtual machines and physical machines). It consists of two components, one in service and another in user space, which makes possible to interact with the user. It supports the following operating systems: Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 2008, Windows 2012, Ubuntu 12, 13 and 14; Fedora (from core up to 20), OpenSuse 13.1 and Centos 7.
